It is with great disappointment that we report an unfortunate incident at the University of Bahr El-Ghazal, where Lecturer Vinasio Both Gai was physically assaulted by his fellow lecturer, Adhar Madut Cyer.

Vinasio Both Gai has devoted his life and time to the noble mission of educating and mentoring the sons and daughters of Bahr El-Ghazal. A former student of the same university, he returned to serve his community and contribute to the academic growth of future generations. Sadly, the very region he chose to serve has now repaid his dedication with harm and humiliation.

Violence, especially among intellectuals and educators, is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. It is not just an attack on one individual, but on the values of education, integrity, and peaceful coexistence. The same hands that nurture knowledge and shape our future have been violated by a fellow colleague, which is deeply disturbing.

We, the students and members of this academic community, reject and denounce this cruelty. We shall never tolerate acts of violence towards those who dedicate their lives to enlightenment and progress.

We call upon the University of Bahr El-Ghazal’s top administration to act swiftly and decisively. The responsible individual must be held accountable, and steps must be taken to ensure the safety and dignity of all members of the university.

Let justice prevail.
